Evening Attire retired at age 10

I read of the gelding racehorse Evening Attire being retired today at the age of 10 after an injury. I followed Evening Attire's career for many years, since he raced on the New York tracks all the time.

Evening Attire was a tough horse. He ran many big races. He always tried hard to win in every race he ran. These are the exciting horses to watch and are the only horses that I follow. That is why I was a fan of his for all these years. I remember I always kept an eye on him especially when the track conditions were sloppy. He was very good on the off-track conditions where many horses do not do as well. I never remember him being sick or injured in all the years that he raced. In the later years, I remember him getting whiter and whiter as he aged. When the sun shined on him sometimes at a certain angle, he looked almost invisible because he was so white.

Evening Attire earned a total of $2,977,130 from the 69 starts he had. He won stakes races all the way up to the G1 level races. Any horse who can come in the money or win at stakes level or higher is a racehorse to me. Any horse that can win over $1 million in his career is an exceptional horse. A very few percent or less of horses can earn over $1 million lifetime.

Most horses today do not even race half as many years as Evening Attire did. The majority of them retire at 4 or 5 years of age. Many horses can't race longer, because after 5 or 6 years old they can no longer come in the money. If a horse does not earn money any longer, what is the point of racing him? Some horses also lose interest in racing; this was certainlly not Evening Attire though who loved to be on the racetrack.

Evening Attire will be missed by all of his fans. Not many horses come along like him; the almost $3 million in earnings and still running well in his races at 10 years old is pretty incredible. After the 69 races he was in, he earned himself a very nice retirement life.

Stardom Bound is set for stardom

Stardom Bound ran another stunning race today at Santa Anita, winning her second G1 against a field of 11 others. She is by Tapit who was a really good horse. She has the same running style also as Tapit did; coming from way back in the field. Her late run is impressive and she looks unbeatable. I think she is set for stardom. The name fits her perfectly.

Stardom Bound

Stardom Bound is a two year old filly I noticed lately. She is by a horse I really liked who is now retired; Tapit. She is racing at Santa Anita in race 8 this Saturday. I have not seen her race yet in any of her three starts. She seems to have a big close. She has already won a G1 race and earned almost $200,000. She could turn out to be a really good horse.

Curlin in the Jockey Gold Cup

Belmont (race 10)
Eight other horses will take on Curlin this Saturday at Belmont in the Jockey Gold Cup. The weather looks like rain for the weekend. Some horses to consider:

Curlin - Curlin has won his last six dirt races. He is the fastest horse in here and has also won over a sloppy track.

Merchant Marine - Looks more like a shorter distance horse.

Timber Reserve - He may be able to go the distance but he looks outclassed here.

Wanderin Boy - He does not look like he can go 1 1/4 miles. He will probably fade in stretch.

Mambo in Seattle - Curlin's main threat. He lost to Colonel John in his last race by a nose. I think Colonel John is the better horse though. Mambo in Seattle can go the distance of 1 1/4 miles easy, but after his tough last race with Colonel John, will he be ready to take on Curlin so soon?

I like Curlin. I don't think Mambo in Seattle will catch him.
